Former Texas football running back Ricky Williams just launched a cannabis line with the perfect nod to his Heisman Trophy victory.

With legalization spreading and sports leagues increasingly calling a truce with cannabis users, it was only a matter of time before a sports-themed cannabis line emerged.

So Ricky Williams stepped up to the plate with some clever wordplay to launch his “Highsman” brand.

The former Longhorn who won the Heisman Trophy in 1998 will offer cannabis products as well as apparel and accessories.

The wordplay doesn’t end with the brand name either.

“Purpose-driven, Highsman cannabis features three strains curated by Williams to compliment moments in the day and put you in the zone. Pregame are sativas for an energized boost; Halftime are hybrids for focused awareness; and the Postgame indicas offer a relaxed mood,” the press release for the brand says.

The Heisman Trust may not be particularly enthusiastic about this one but Williams has never gone along with what the powers that be think.

Williams was an unstoppable force at Texas, rushing for 6,592 yards and 75 touchdowns in four seasons. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2015.

His illustrious pro football career was peppered with suspensions over the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. He was suspended for the entire 2006 season while a member of the Miami Dolphins because of it. He has long claimed cannabis can be used by athletes to deal with anxiety and pain.

Despite his issues with NFL drug testing, he rushed for 10,009 yards with the Saints, Dolphins and Ravens during his 11 years in the league. He had five seasons with more than 1,000 yards.
